Field Hockey Canada (FHC) has confirmed Alan Brahmst (Toronto, Ontario) as the Men’s National Team Coach for the 2010 World Cup to be held in New Delhi, India. This appointment is in line with FHC’s commitment to develop the sport by leveraging and building on existing resources in Canada.
Alan Brahmst was appointed “interim” Coach in November 2008 and successfully led the Canadian Team to victory at the 2009 Pan American Cup in Santiago, Chile, earning in the process a direct qualification for the 2010 World Cup.
Assisted by a proven staff with tremendous experience and varied expertise, Brahmst has implemented an innovative training program, aimed not only at preparing the team for the upcoming competitions but also at developing the next generation of National Team players.
Alan Brahmst has been on the National Team coaching staff since 2007, including at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, where he was responsible for the team’s tactical plan. As a player, Alan had a 15-year career on the National Team, playing 178 international games, including at the 1986, 1998 World Cups and the 2000 Olympic Games.
