Canada Welcomes India

October 2, 2009

The Board of Directors of Field Hockey Canada (FHC), would like to welcome the men’s national team from India to Canada for a seven-match test series.

The first two matches  between Team Canada and Team India will take place in Victoria B.C. on October 9 and 11, 2009 and  the next five matches will  take place in Vancouver  and Surrey starting October 14 and running through to October 24, 2009.  For a detailed schedule please visit the FHC web site at www.fieldhockey.ca and click on the link to the www.7TestSuperSeries.ca.

For Canada, the test series provides us with an opportunity to host one of the top hockey nations in the world and allows our athletes to showcase their skills on home turf, an opportunity Canada does not get very often. This test series in happening at a critical stage in the preparation of our men’s National Team for their participation in the Champions Challenge in December 2009 and ultimately the World Cup in early 2010.

In addition, a gala dinner, dance and auctions will take place on Saturday October 17, 2009. We are all pleased to announce the Canadian bhangra band EN KARMA who will be performing at that evening before the official October launch of their newest album.  Tickets can be purchased on the Field Hockey Canada web site.

We would like to thank the many sponsors who come together to make this event possible.

Please join us in welcoming Team India to Canada, and let’s rally around our men’s team as we support them in this important seven match series.  Please follow the series on the two web sites for up-to-minute results and interviews with members of team Canada.

Respectfully submitted
