Canada moves to 2-0 at Pan Am Youths

Canada earns second victory of Pan Am Youth Championship with win over Chile

The Canadian men’s national under-17 team defeated Chile 3-1 Monday evening in their second match of the Men’s Pan American Youth Championship in Hermosillo, Mexico.

Gabriel Ho-Garcia scored two goals to lead Canada to victory.  Christopher Roydhouse opened the scoring on a penalty corner in the 39th minute.

Chile would eventually get on the score sheet in the 68th minute however it would not be enough as Canada moves to 2-0 in the tournament.

The Canadians’ next match takes place on Thursday against Argentina.  The gold medal game is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 13th between the top two teams following the conclusion of pool play.

The tournament serves as the continental qualifier for the Youth Olympics taking place this August in Singapore.

Joining Canada in the tournament are the United States, Argentina, Chile, and Mexico.
