Field Hockey Canada > Canadian Men's and Women's National Indoor Camps to be held in Toronto

Field Hockey Canada is committed to supporting the indoor program to ensure its teams consistently qualify for the Indoor Pan Am and Indoor World Cup. The program will focus on the development of athletes capable of successfully meeting the demands of international level competition and program requirements.

The Women’s National Indoor Camp will take place January 3 to 5, 2014, with the Men’s National Indoor Camp taking place January 8 to 12, 2014. Both camps are located in Toronto, Ontario. Read below for details on both camps.

 

Women’s National Indoor Camp – January 3 to 5, 2014

Elements of the Program

The second phase of the indoor program begins with a selection camp which will be held on Jan 3rd to 5th in Toronto, Ontario. The other elements of the phase will include the following:

  • Domestic training and Inter Squad Competition: Jan 2014
  • Following a physiological training program and participating in team sessions
  • Training and Competition element with clubs or provinces: Feb 2014
  • Training and International Competition at home: March 2014
  • Indoor Pan Am Cup, Montevideo, Uruguay: April 7-13, 2014

Registration Requirements

Athletes must meet the following requirements and any other set out by the national coach, in order to attend the camp, be selected and train with the national squad.

  • Be a Canadian citizen.
  • Be a nationally or provincially identified athlete.
  • Be playing in provincial, regional-run senior league.
  • Be available for domestic training and competitive elements.
  • Be available for the Pan Am Cup (April 2014).
  • Be a member in good standing with Field Hockey Canada.

Camp Details

  • Must attend all sessions of the camp.
  • National coaches appointed by the national program.
  • Accommodation, food and travel to and from the camp will be the responsibility of the individual athlete.
  • Athletic trainers/ therapists will be present for all practices and games.
  • Bring red, white and black shirt.

Registration

Please complete the registration, contact and medical info forms and email to carlajohl@gmail.com by Dec 21, 5pm EST.

A cheque for  $150 made payable to Field Hockey Canada-Indoor Program will be collected before the first session of the camp. The registration table will be open on Friday from 4:30 to 4:45 pm. Please be there on time. 

 

Squad and Team Selection

  • A Squad of 16 field players and 2 goalies will be named on January 15th or earlier.
  • Teams for competitive events will be named 2 weeks before the competition.
  • There will be a training levy of  $200 for the training sessions (Jan-Apr 2014).
  • Meet the minimum physical assessment requirements.

Nationally Identified and Non-Ontario Athletes

  • Athletes training in Vancouver for the national outdoor program and would like to participate in the indoor program will be selected to the squad and or team by the indoor national coach on an individual consideration, provided certain criterias are met.
  • Athletes not residing in Ontario, if selected to the squad or team will need to work with the indoor national coach on a plan which ensures training components are met.

Self-Funded Program

The program is self-funded and will not be supported financially by Field Hockey Canada. Your assistance in fundraising and attendance at other team activities that raise awareness for the program will be mandatory. All funds raised will be used for the sole purpose of expenses incurred by the program.

 

Medical Insurance

You must be a registered FHO and FHC member to be covered by the FHC’s membership’s insurance policy. This is mandatory if you want to attend indoor national training and competition.
