Rule Changes for 2011

Based on recommendations from the Hockey Rules Board, the Executive Board of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) has agreed changes to the Rules of Hockey and the Rules of Indoor Hockey.

The rule changes will formally take effect on January 1, 2011 for all international Field Hockey competitions. All competitions starting before January 1, 2011 date will still use the existing 2009 Rules. It is expected that Rule books incorporating the new changes will be printed and available on the FIH website for September 2010. This advance notice of the changes has been provided so that Continental Federations and National Associations may, if they wish, implement the changes sooner for matches within their jurisdiction.
