Chile beats Canada in U17 Bronze medal match

Chile defeated the Canadian men’s national under-17 team 5-1 Saturday afternoon in the bronze medal match of the Pan American Youth Championship.  Later in the day Argentina defeated the United States to earn their National Olympic Committee the right to send a field hockey team to the Youth Olympics this August.

The Canadians started the match very well but were unable to contain the Chilean attack.  Gordan Johnston goal off a penalty corner got Canada on the board in the 29th minute to make the score 2-1.

However the second half would see Chile score three goals unanswered to secure the victory.

The Pan Am Youth Championship serves as the continental qualifier for the Youth Olympics taking place this August in Singapore.
