Coach Mathias Ahrens to visit Calgary

Canadian Men’s Junior National Head Coach Mathias Ahrens will be in Calgary, Alberta on October 12th – 14th to conduct a National Identification Camp. 

“I’m looking forward to working with the athletes in Alberta,” says Ahrens.  “I saw a lot of talent at the Under 16 National Championships this summer, and I’m excited to see more.”

All Field Hockey Alberta boys born within 1995 to 1998 are encouraged to attend.  The session on Friday session will serve as a “try-out” to attend the remainder of the camp.  Players selected on Friday will be invited to participate in the training sessions on Saturday and Sunday. 

Participants must be members of Field Hockey Alberta and must register for the camp by OCTOBER 10th.  All sessions will be hosted at the University of Calgary Field Hockey Turf.   Click here to register.

Friday, October 12          7:00pm – 9:30pm
Saturday, October 13     8:30am – 11:30am & 3:30pm – 5:30pm
Sunday, October 14       8:30am – 11:30am

For younger athletes, born between 1999 and 2001 are invited to attend a practice run by Coach Ahrens on Saturday, October 13 from 5:45pm to 7:30pm.  The practice is an opportunity for boys to gain exposure to national level coaching and learn new skills. 

“I believe the sessions with Mathias will have a positive impact on the young men in Alberta,” says Chrissy Kilroe, High Performance Coach for FHA.  “With the recent success of the Men’s Junior National Team, the Alberta boys are very excited about the National Team Program.  We hope everyone involved will be able to learn and grow from the experience.”
