Men’s Commonwealth Blog: Day 11

October 9, 2010

Well today started off with the usual jog and stretch, a game day ritual. The weather didn’t feel as warm as previous days and I am sure we all were hoping it would stay like this until after our game. It was than off to breaky where I had the pleasure of sitting across from Ian Smythe, and watched him eat plain white rice and butter and plain pasta for like his 10th meal in a row, the only thing his stomach could handle without any side effects (if you know what i mean).

We than had our pre-game meeting and lunch, chilled for a bit watching other events on TV until it was time to leave for the field.

It was a big game today, a must win to keep our semi final berth alive and it was against our Pan Am rival T&T. The weather was cooperating and by game time I think it was quite comfortable.

We started off well and the game plan was perfect, we generated many chances and got a few penalty corners and a stroke, which Tupps converted on and we took a 2-0 lead into the half. Second half T&T came out with nothing to lose and created a few chances, which our goalie Kindler and strong D thwarted away. We generated a few of our own to increase the lead but could not capitalise.

We will take the win and 3 pts and will need to play better tomorrow against New Zealand, if we want a spot in the semis.

See ya later
