Our first free day to explore Hermosillo, Mexico
First we had an amazing breakfast at our hotel that included scrambled eggs and freshly cooked pancakes.
Then our drivers ( Luis, Alex, Fernando) drove us around the city.
Our first stop was an old prison near the bottom of Bell Mountain. Even though the prison was closed we were still allowed to go inside and explore around. Inside we went into old jail cells and than into this underground hole. Where they would put prisoners in total darkness for months at a time with only a little bread and water.
After the prison we were split into groups and we were allowed to explore around the market place. We adventured around small street vendures and tryed to find some good souvenirs with our amazing bargaining skills. The best souveir was picked up by C.J. who bought a sombreoh that was about 3 feet in circumference.
After a long shopping spree we played soccer/ basketball in a park near the market place.
Next we barely visited the main cathedreal and we walked around, trying to find a way in. Unfortuantly the Cathedreal was closed.
Then we traveled to a restaurant that pretty much only served steak. I think everybody enjoyed this dinner the most, the steak was so good.
After the amazing dinner we went out to a look out at the top of Bell Mountain. We looked down from the mountain and saw all the amazing lights from the city streets.
After this our drivers Luis and his brother Danielle had an outdoor basketball game that we went to go watch. The game they played was street ball and was pretty intense to watch.
After the game we went back to our hotel and chilled out and went straight to bed from such a long day of excitment and extreme fun. I wonder what this trip can bring to us next.
This day was extremly important because it was a national holiday for Hermosillo showing there independence that they earned from fighting the Spanish.
