Field Hockey Canada is committed to supporting the indoor program to ensure its teams consistently qualify for the Indoor Pan Am and Indoor World Cup. The program will focus on the development of athletes capable of successfully meeting the demands of international level competition and program requirements.
Elements of the Program:
The first phase of the program will consist of a selection camp which will be held on August 23rd to 25th in Toronto Ontario, followed by domestic training and a competitive component domestically or internationally. The second phase will begin in Jan 2014 and consists of the following elements, which need to be confirmed:
– Selection Camp Jan 2014.
– Domestic Training and Inter Squad Competition Jan 2014
– Training and Competition element with clubs or provinces. Feb 2014
– Training and International Competition at home March 2014
– Indoor Pan Am Cup —April 2014 TBC
Registration Requirements:
Athletes must meet the following requirements and any other set out by the national coach, in order to attend the camp, be selected and train with the national squad.
- Be a Canadian Citizen
- Be a nationally or provincially identified athlete.
- Be playing in provincial, regional run senior league.
- Be available for domestic training and competitive elements.
- Be available for The Pan Am Cup ( April 2014)
- Be a member in good standing with FHC.
Camp Details:
- Must attend all sessions of the camp.
- National coaches appointed by the national program.
- Accommodation, food & travel to & from the camp will be the responsibility of the individual athlete.
- Athletic trainers/ therapists will be present for all practices and games.
- Bring red, white and black shirt.
Camp Schedule:

Friday Aug 23rd: 7:00 – 9:00pm TBC
Saturday Aug 24th: 4 – 7pm Malvern Community Centre
Sunday Aug 25th: : 5 – 8pm Malvern Community Centre
Registration:
- Please complete the registration, contact and medical info forms and email to coachmendonca@gmail.com by Aug 16th, 5pm EST.
- A cheque for $ 75 made payable to Field Hockey Canada-Indoor Program will be collected before the first session of the camp.
- The registration table will be open on Friday from 6:30 to 6:45 pm. Please be there on time.
Squad and Team Selection:
- A Squad of 16 field players and 2 goalies will be named on Sept 5th or earlier.
- The team that will participate in the first competitive event will be named 2 weeks before the competition.
- There will be a training levy for the training sessions before the first competitive event.
- Meet the minimum physical assessment requirements.
Nationally Identified and Non-Ontario Athletes:
- Athletes training in Vancouver for the national outdoor program and would like to participate in the Indoor program will be selected to the squad and or team by the indoor national coach on an individual consideration, provided certain criteria’s are met.
- Athletes not residing in Ontario, if selected to the squad or team will need to work with the indoor national coach on a plan which ensures training components are met.
Self-Funded Program:
The program is self-funded and will not be supported financially by Field Hockey Canada. Your assistance in fund raising and attendance at other team activities that raise awareness for the program will be mandatory. All fund raised will be used for the sole purpose of expenses incurred by the program.
