Senior Nationals : Day Two Summary

 The second day of the FHC Senior National Championships consisted of eight back to back games beginning at 8:00am with Alberta Men taking on the Canadian Junior National team. This was the first opportunity to spectators to see the Canadian Junior men in action and they delivered a convincing 2-0 win over Alberta men. The second game of the day saw Pool A round robin continue with BC White women taking 3 pts from BC U18 White with a 5-0 win. PEI and Ontario white, also in Pool A, played a tight battle for game #10 of the tournament. PEI lead with a 1-0 lead for the majority of the game until Ontario White’s Megan Scraper was able to find the back of the net and bring the final score to 1-1. Players of the game were Adrienne Shepherd (PEI) and Laura Matthew (ONT White).

 Canadian field hockey fans got to see the BC Blue men in action, which is comprised mostly of Senior national team members. They began their tournament with a 5-0 win over the BC White men’s team with goals by Scott Tupper, David Jameson, Connor Meakin, Kevin Laidman and Mark Pearson. Players of the game were David Jameson for BC Blue and Sean Paget, of Victoria, for BC White. The men’s action continued with Game #12 where Ontario men took on the Alberta men. Ontario sealed the game with a 10-0 victory to give them a total of 6 points in round-robin. 

 The final Pool A game for Day two took place late in the day with BC Blue women defeating BC U18 White a convincing 9-0 to give them first place and 9 points in Pool A. Close games followed with a tight game between Ontario Red and the Canadian Junior women. Stand-outs Krissy Wishart (ONT) and Natalie Sourisseau (CAN JRs) were awarded player of the game honours in the 2-2 tie game. The Alberta women and BC U18 Blue teams closed out Day two with Alberta taking a 2-1 victory.
