Field Hockey Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Steven Davis as FHC Marketing Director. Currently residing in Vancouver, and an active member of West Vancouver FHC, Davis was capped 39 times for Canada’s Men’s National Team (between 2001 to 2004), in addition to numerous years playing for Canada’s U-21 Team. His playing career also took him abroad to Holland (SCHC), England (Surbiton EHL), and South Africa (UCT/Wanderers), where he played and coached at both the club and provincial levels. Most recently, Steven acted as the lead tournament organizer for the CANgaroo Clash in West Vancouver. “Ross Rutledge was my mentor growing up. It felt really good to say thanks to Ross, by leading the charge on that event. His kids loved it. We had a superb support team that delivered a great event for FHC.”

After completing his MBA in Cape Town (South Africa) in 2005, Steven joined Apple Inc. in Johannesburg South Africa, where he was senior marketing manager for two years. After his adventure in Johannesburg, Davis moved to London UK, where he spent 3-years as the Director of UK Custom Research Division at Kantar Worldpanel, the largest research agency in the world. This six year period of living in Africa, and most recently London UK, have given Steven a wealth of expertise and real-world experience in technology, product, and social media marketing. Over the past 18-months, he has continued to ply his trade for a technology startup in downtown Vancouver. When not playing or coaching field hockey, Steven also owns and operates the Field Hockey Shack in West Vancouver.

“I’m very excited to be working with FHC, to design and build-out the overall strategic marketing and sponsorship framework going forward,” says Davis. “There is a ton of existing opportunities out there, and I look forward to working with the team in Ottawa to deliver a product that everyone in the field hockey family, from coast-to-coast, can be proud of. Activating the grass-roots level of our sport, and bringing all stakeholders in the field hockey community together, will be my primary focus in the short to medium term. We will have some exciting sponsorship programs launching in early 2012, that will start to deliver on this strategic priority.”
