The City of Toronto has been awarded the right to host the 2015 Pan American Games. The decision was announced Friday afternoon by the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Field Hockey Canada President Mary Cicinelli and Field Hockey Ontario President Ann Doggett were both present at the Toronto bid headquarters for the announcement.
"Winning of the right to host the Pan Am games as a tremendous opportunity for field hockey," exclaimed Doggett. "It will allow us to host senior level national championships and have first class training facilities. This will translate into more international athletes from Ontario and those athletes will be able to train at home."
Toronto’s bid for the games includes a state of the art national field hockey venue meeting International Hockey Federation (FIH) specifications.
