U18 Women’s identification camp to be held in August

Field Hockey Canada has announced an identification camp will be held in Vancouver from August 10 – 15 for under-18 female athletes.

Athletes will be invited to attend based on performance at the 2010 Senior National Championships (June 30th – July 4th Victoria, British Columbia), 2010 U18 Canada Cup (July 15th – 18th Calgary, Alberta) and 2010 U16 National Championships (July 21st – 25th Mississauga, Ontario),

Field Hockey Canada is committed to supporting the Women’s program to consistently qualify for major competitions such as the Olympic Games and the World Cup. To ensure that this goal is reached, a strategic priority has been placed on the establishment of a sustainable Junior National Team program peaking over a 4 year cycle with participation in the Junior World Cup (JWC) in 2013. This program will focus on the development of both athletes and coaches capable of successfully meeting the demands of international level competition.
