Gavin Bains started playing field hockey with the Delta Falcons Field Hockey Club when he was six years old. As a part of the Falcons, he was lucky enough to be coached by former Canadian Men’s National Team player Guy Manwarning.
Bains’ love for hockey was born borne after hearing about Manwaring’s experiences. That’s when his desire to represent Canada began to grow. With the help of Manwaring, he would come to the field early and stay late during practices. In his own words, he “could not get enough field hockey!”
Bains was named to the Junior Men’s National Team in January of 2014. His sister Monika is also a field hockey player and has represented Team British Columbia.
