Kerry Moynihan

Kerry T. Moynihan (Chair of the Board)
Kerry graduated in 1979, with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Sports Administration from Laurentian University. He has spent the past four decades working in numerous senior management positions with Provincial Sport Organizations in Ontario such as (Cycling, Gymnastics) and National Sport Organizations including (Shooting, Canoeing, Alpine Skiing) and finally with Multi Sport Organizations including the General Manager of both the 1995 and 1997 Canada Games as well as the CEO of the Canadian Interuniversity Athletic Union. Over the years, Kerry has excelled in special event management, sponsorship, fundraising, media relations, governance and government relations. He also spent time working as Assistant Product Manager with American Express Canada. Kerry is retired, involved in many volunteer activities and now lives in Cochrane, Alberta. Kerry is Interim Chair of the Board and leads Governance and HR Committees and sits on the sponsorship and fundraising committees

Gurinder Hundal

Gurinder Hundal
With over 35 years of experience in field hockey, Gurinder Hundal has a deep passion for the sport and has been involved in various capacities throughout his career. After moving to Canada from India, he has been an active member of the Vancouver Men’s Field Hockey League since 2009, competing in numerous tournaments across the country. Beyond his playing career, Gurinder is dedicated to developing future talent. He has volunteered as a coach for junior boys’ and girls’ teams and is currently serving as the assistant coach for a senior women’s team in the Vancouver Women’s League. He currently works as an Electrical Specialist Engineer at BC Hydro. This professional expertise, combined with his experience in field hockey, provides him with a unique perspective and skill set to contribute to the strategic growth and success of Field Hockey Canada. Gurinder specializes in event and tournament organizing, governance and sport administration.

Halley Chopra

Halley Chopra
Halley comes to Field Hockey Canada from the National Capital Region, growing up in Ottawa and now living in Gatineau. She has been playing field hockey all her life and has been contributing to her local field hockey community for the past 15 years. She joins the Field Hockey Canada board with much community organizing experience. Professionally, Halley is a data analyst and engineer with an eye for number crunching and project management. Personally, Halley is passionate about the environment, a sucker for small bakeries, also plays ringette, and tries to spend time in the woods when her sport-life allows!

Halley comes to Field Hockey Canada from the National Capital Region, growing up in Ottawa and now living in Gatineau. Nick Laxton
Nick is a keen supporter of youth sport, bringing a perspective from grass roots to high performance pathways having coached over 1000 youth field hockey and soccer games in Vancouver. Originally from the UK, Nick moved to Vancouver with a young family 15 years ago to start an investment management firm that provides advice to clients across Canada. His business and financial background, with a healthy dose of entrepreneurship, offers the ability to solve familiar problems in innovative ways. Prior to moving to Canada, Nick has been a derivatives trader and worked for the BBC as a science expert. A long, long time ago in a galaxy far away he gained a PhD in Space Plasma Physics from Imperial College, London.

Ronald Prins

Ronald Prins
Ronald Prins is a dedicated field hockey ambassador and has been closely involved in the sport as a player, coach, umpire, and administrator. Growing up in the hockey hotbed of the Netherlands, Ronald's passion for the sport ignited amidst his family's active engagement with the local hockey club. After relocating to Canada, he became deeply involved in the community. With a sharp entrepreneurial mindset, Ronald brings his blend of hockey knowledge and business acumen to the Field Hockey Canada board. Ronald sits on the Masters Committee and sponsorship and fundraising committees

Terry Lockhart

Terry Lockhart (Treasurer)
Terry holds a CPA designation and extensive experience in finance, HR, risk management, and corporate governance in the Not-For-Profit sector. Most of his experience has been in the sport and recreation sector, in a post-secondary education setting, as well as at a National Sport Organization where he serves as a Director, Finance and Corporate Services. He appreciates the importance of values-based leadership, as well as building key stakeholder partnerships to enhance the sustainability of the organizations he serves. He also appreciates the value of sport in uniting communities, as well as building self confidence, esteem, and ethical values in young athletes. In his free time, Terry enjoys watching and playing a variety of sports, and spending time with his kids. Terry is the Field Hockey Canada Treasurer and leads the finance committee.

James Kirkpatrick

James Kirkpatrick (Athlete Director)
James Kirkpatrick is the male athlete director on the Field Hockey Canada Board and is a recently retired member of the Men’s National Field Hockey Team. He has earned over 105 senior national caps since his debut in 2010. Born and raised in Victoria, BC, Kirkpatrick has represented Canada in major international competitions, including the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games, the 2018 World Cup, and the 2019 Pan American Games, where he won a silver medal. Professionally, James is an experienced software developer, currently working for Electronic Arts. James sits on the Field Hockey Canada Athlete Council.

James Kirkpatrick (Athlete Director)

James Kirkpatrick is the male athlete director on the Field Hockey Canada Board and is a recently retired member of the Men’s National Field Hockey Team. He has earned over 105 senior national caps since his debut in 2010. Born and raised in Victoria, BC, Kirkpatrick has represented Canada in major international competitions, including the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games, the 2018 World Cup, and the 2019 Pan American Games, where he won a silver medal. Professionally, James is an experienced software developer, currently working for Electronic Arts. James sits on the Field Hockey Canada Athlete Council.

Shanlee Johnston

Shanlee Johnston (Athlete Director)
Recently retired from the Women’s National Field Hockey Team, Shanlee Johnston, is the female athlete director on the Field Hockey Canada Board. She debuted for the national team in 2012 and earned 138 international caps. Johnston has competed in major tournaments, including the Pan American Games, where she won bronze in 2015 and silver in 2019. She was also a member of the World Cup team in 2022, the Women's National Team’s first time back to the World Cup in 28 years. Shanlee is a UBC grad and is currently an assistant professional at Point Grey Golf Club in Vancouver, where she is a strength and conditioning trainer and coach. Shanlee sits on the Field Hockey Canada Athlete Council.

Victoria’s Nancy Mollenhauer is a long-celebrated Canadian field hockey community member. Born the youngest of five athletic siblings, she discovered her passion for field hockey later in life. During the 1980s, she was a key player in a dominant Canadian team, competing in two Olympic Games (1984, 1988), two World Cups (1983, 1986), and the 1987 Pan American Games, where she was the flag bearer. Nancy brings her pedagogical background and her high-performance experience to the Field Hockey Canada board. Nancy is a retired physical education teacher, living in Victoria, and an active contributor to the BC and Canadian field hockey community. Nancy sits on the Hall of Fame, USPORTS and Finance Committees.
