Cinq ans apr\u00e8s avoir annonc\u00e9 sa retraite internationale, Rob Short est de retour avec l\u2019\u00e9quipe nationale masculine du Canada dans le r\u00f4le d\u2019entra\u00eeneur adjoint. Short est un des plus grands joueurs de hockey sur gazon au Canada, occupant le deuxi\u00e8me rang pour le nombre de matchs internationaux (346) de l\u2019histoire canadienne.<\/p>\n

Le parcours international de Short n\u2019est rien de moins que l\u00e9gendaire. Il a jou\u00e9 dans les rangs professionnels aux Pays-Bas pendant 14 ans, il a disput\u00e9 deux tournois olympiques, deux tournois de la Coupe du Monde, cinq Jeux panam\u00e9ricains et quatre Jeux du Commonwealth pour le Canada. Reconnu pour son d\u00e9sir comp\u00e9titif, Short a \u00e9t\u00e9 capitaine de l\u2019\u00e9quipe nationale de 2001 \u00e0 2008.<\/p>\n

Short a fait une priorit\u00e9 de son travail d\u2019entra\u00eeneur au cours des derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, notamment en fondant l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie d\u2019entra\u00eeneurs Rob Short. Il vit et travaille dans la Grande r\u00e9gion de Vancouver et continue de se d\u00e9vouer \u00e0 la croissance et au d\u00e9veloppement du sport au Canada. Short est tr\u00e8s enthousiaste de renouer avec le programme de l\u2019\u00e9quipe nationale.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Pendant 20 ans, l\u2019\u00e9quipe nationale a \u00e9t\u00e9 la passion de ma vie et je n\u2019ai rien perdu en ce sens \u00bb, affirme-t-il. \u00ab J\u2019aimerais bien pouvoir jouer encore, mais le travail d\u2019entra\u00eeneur est le deuxi\u00e8me plus beau m\u00e9tier au monde. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Short jouera un r\u00f4le d\u2019entra\u00eeneur au Canada, concentrant ses efforts sur l\u2019environnement quotidien d\u2019entra\u00eenement. Il rejoint au groupe d\u2019entra\u00eeneurs compos\u00e9 de Paul Bundy<\/strong><\/a> et de Gregg Clark<\/strong><\/a>. Clark et Short se sont affront\u00e9s pendant plus d\u2019une d\u00e9cennie sur la sc\u00e8ne internationale et cette rivalit\u00e9 \u00e9tait plut\u00f4t intense. Ce duo travaillera maintenant dans la m\u00eame direction en soutien de Bundy et de l\u2019\u00e9quipe nationale masculine du Canada.<\/p>\n

\u00ab J\u2019ai affront\u00e9 Gregg plusieurs ann\u00e9es quand il jouait pour l\u2019Afrique du Sud et il n\u2019y a pas un de nos matchs ou nous ne nous sommes pas engueul\u00e9s tout au long de la rencontre \u00bb, raconte Short. \u00ab Il voulait gagner autant que moi et une fois notre pass\u00e9 dans le r\u00e9troviseur, je suis convaincu que nous formerons une excellente \u00e9quipe de soutien pour Bundy. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Selon Bundy, Short offre une riche exp\u00e9rience de ses 20 ans et plus comme joueur et entra\u00eeneur \u00e0 l\u2019environnement d\u2019entra\u00eenement de l\u2019\u00e9quipe nationale.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Rob a travaill\u00e9 avec certains des meilleurs entra\u00eeneurs au monde. Il connait le sport international, il connait le hockey canadien et plus important encore il arrive \u00e0 l\u2019entra\u00eenement avec une autre perspective \u00bb, raconte Bundy. \u00ab Il poss\u00e8de une belle \u00e9nergie et un tr\u00e8s bon rapport avec les joueurs. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Short dit qu\u2019il a toujours su qu\u2019il reviendrait avec l\u2019\u00e9quipe nationale dans un autre r\u00f4le et que c\u2019\u00e9tait qu\u2019une question de temps. Pour lui, cette situation est parfaite, la vision du programme correspondait \u00e0 la sienne et il est tr\u00e8s heureux de revenir dans le groupe.<\/p>\n

\u00ab J\u2019aime la vision de Bundy et son plan pour le groupe actuel, mais aussi pour la jeune g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de joueurs au Canada \u00bb, estime Short. \u00ab Je suis heureux de ce qui se dresse devant nous et pour l\u2019avenir du sport au Canada. \u00bb<\/p>\n

L\u2019\u00e9quipe accueillera le Pakistan, la Chine et la France cet \u00e9t\u00e9 en route vers la Coupe du Monde de la FIH 2018 \u00e0 Bhubaneswar, en Inde au mois de novembre.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
