Team Canada takes on the world in Cape Town

This week our Masters over 50 Men will take to the world stage at the 2022 Masters World Cup. This event is taking place in Cape Town, South Africa from October 1-10th. Cape Town promises to be a fantastic host to this world level event, with the city hosting major level world events such as the Rugby, Cricket and Football World Cups in the past, as well as recently being selected to host the 2023 Netball World Cup. In 2010 Cape Town played host to the Grand Masters Hockey World Cup as well, showing why its not just a superb tourist city but also a world class hockey host.

After the postponement of the 2020 tournament, Field Hockey Canada congratulates World Masters Hockey for getting this event back on the schedule. Canada is excited to send a 50+ Men’s team to the 2022 Masters World Cup and to announce our roster. Congratulations to all athletes, staff and officials selected to this event.

Canada will play in Pool A and face Argentina, South Africa, Spain, Namibia, Netherlands and an Alliance team. The teams will play a Pool A round robin followed by a final and classification matches depending on finishing position. Stay tuned for results, link to live streams, photos and more. You can also follow the Masters World Cup on the tournament webpage and on Field Hockey Canada’s masters hockey website. GO CANADA GO!
