Field Hockey Canada > Indoor men to hold open camp February 25-26 in Toronto

Canada’s Men’s Indoor National Team will commence its journey to the next International Hockey Federation Indoor World Cup with a camp to be held later this month.

The Men’s Indoor Program will hold an open camp the weekend of Feb 25th – 26th at the University of Toronto’s Athletic Centre at 55 Harbord St. Athletes will take part in fitness testing, skill training and matches.

The sessions will be run at the following times:

  • Feb 25: 8:30AM – 10:30AM 
  • Feb 25: 5:30PM – 7:30PM
  • Feb 26: 9:00AM – 11:00AM

Each session will begin promptly at the start time. Please arrive early to check-in and warm-up. Meetings with athletes will be scheduled around these training sessions.

Athletes will be selected from the Feb 25-26 weekend to take part in an intersquad series the weekend of either March 25-26 or April 1-2. These athletes will compete to be selected for the Indoor National Squad.

The cost to attend the camp and following interquad session is $150. Instructions on payment will be sent out after you register. To register for this weekend please complete the attached forms (1. Athlete Agreement; 2. Camp Registration) and email them to sandison@hotmail.com.

It was announced last week that Berlin, Germany will host the Hockey Indoor World Cup from February 7th-11th, 2018.

These sessions will begin the preparations for the Pan American Cup in September/October at a location still to be determined. The winner of the Pan American Indoor Cup will qualify for the Indoor World Cup to represent the Pan American region. Full details for this qualification tournament, training locations and times, and other details will be made available once there is a concrete date and location put forward by the Pan American Hockey Federation.

An additional camp will be set in the summer of 2017 when players not selected during this initial trial may be added to the squad.
