FACILITY

The British Columbia Mainland TAP Hub is presented in partnership with the Tamanawis Field Hockey Society at Tamanawis Fields in Surrey, BC.

Strength and Conditioning will be held at the Richmond Olympic Oval, 6111 River Road, Richmond BC V7C 0A2.

SCHEDULE

Training will start Monday, February 28th and run until Friday May 20th. Full Detailed Schedule available for download SCHEDULE (UPDATED FEB 23)

Monday:  630-830 (Tamanawis – Technical Training)
Wednesday:  600-700 GROUP 1 Strength and Conditioning (Oval)
Thursday: 730-830 GROUP 2 Strength and Conditioning (Oval)
Friday: 700-8:45 (Tamanawis – technical training)
*note verify Oval time and locations, they vary over the first two weeks, athletes will be told which SnC group they are to attend.

There will be no training March 12-27th over Spring Break

Athletes that are unable to attend mid-week strength and conditioning sessions in person will be given an at-home physical training program.  This can be arranged on a case-by-case basis and in consideration of your club training commitments.

TAP PROGRAM LEADS + HUB HEAD COACHES
Nicky Graham – FHC Women’s program and NCAA Division 1 Alumni, FHBC and WVFHC Coach.  Created and launched the USA Shooting Star Tournament (3 annual showcases) and Head coach for College Connection (USA) FHC Women’s NextGen Assistant Coach.
Kent McKinnon – FHBC Head Coach (men and women programming)  WVFHC Head Coach, FHC WNG Assistant Coach.
 
ASSISTANT COACHES: 
David Keogh – U21 Ireland National Team Coach and Irish Provincial Teams. Played EHL, and 1st Division in Ireland. FHC Men’s NextGen Assistant Coach.
Imran Muhammad – 275 International caps and 193 goals for Pakistan, two-time Olympian and 2 World Cups.  Former Pakistan Junior National team head coach. India Club
Sofia Walia – Alumni of FHC Jr and Sr  National Team programs.  All American at Rutgers University.  Deep roots in field hockey programming in BC as athlete, coach, and volunteer.  

TECHNICAL TRAINERS:
Minder Gill – Men’s National Senior Team alumni, Coached BC Provincial teams, Assistant Coach Canadian Junior team Hobart World Cup, India Club Premier Team Coach
Mike Van Iderstine – FIH Level 3, NCCP Comp Dev Trained, WVFHC and Sea to Sky Coach.
Arif Virjee – Polar Bears, FHC MNT program alumni, UBC varsity alumni, international experience in Spain, NZ and Aus.

ATHLETES

Identified TAP athletes must register through Field Hockey Canada’s F-RED system by Tuesday, February 8th.

COST:

The cost of this program for the period of Feb – May payable in three monthly installments and can be found on the registration system.

The cost may vary from hub to hub depending on the cost of facilities. Cost is inclusive of coaching, sport science, strength and conditioning, facilities, equipment, athletic training support and FHC pathway and podium contribution fees which benefit National Team Programs.

CLOTHING:

All athletes will be required to order a FHC TAP training uniform, this will be available during the second week. The uniform is will be exclusive to the Targeted Athlete Program and provided through FHC’s  apparel partnership with Indian Maharadja (https://www.indianmaharadja.ca/)
