Cowichan field hockey product Crystal Poland is off to a terrific start in her collegiate career.

Field Hockey Canada (FHC) has confirmed Alan Brahmst (Toronto, Ontario) as the Men’s National Team Coach for the 2010 World Cup to be held in New Delhi, India. This appointment is in line with FHC’s commitment to develop the sport by leveraging and building on existing resources in Canada.
Alan Brahmst was appointed “interim” Coach in November 2008 and successfully led the Canadian Team to victory at the 2009 Pan American Cup in Santiago, Chile, earning in the process a direct qualification for the 2010 World Cup…

Louis Mendonca Head coach of the National Women’s Team today announced Nancy (Charlton) Mollenhauer, a member of the 1984 and 1988 Olympic teams has been named as Honorary Captain of the Field Hockey for The Cure Game to be played September 13th 2009 at UBC Wright Field in support of the BC Cancer Foundation. The game will feature Team Canada in Pink playing against the UBC Tournament All Stars.

The Canadian Women’s Field Hockey Team will be playing a fundraising “Game for The Cure” in support of the BC Cancer Foundation, on Sunday, September 13th at Wright Field, UBC. This showcase game will be the featured event of the UBC Invitational Field Hockey Tournament and the women will don pink Team Canada uniforms to play against the tourney’s all-star team.

The Toronto Titans Field Hockey Club present’s the 12th Annual Scarborough Junior Indoor Cup Tournament. The event will be held December 12 – 13, 2009 at the RIM Park in Waterloo, Ontario.
Divisions will consist of girls and boys U23, U18, and U14, as well as a Co-ed U10 division.

Australia’s Kookaburras felt they had something to prove after Thursday afternoon’s tight 2-1 victory over Canada, and a score line reading 6-2 after the second match of the mini-series would indicate that they did. Overall, the game was not as unbalanced as that result might indicate, but Canada’s few errors and mental lapses were costly.

Canada came close in the first of two test matches against the world’s second ranked team, the Kookaburras, losing 2-1. The winning goal was scored on a penalty corner opportunity with only five minutes remaining.
