Atlantic Cup Tournament turns 25

Field Hockey Nova Scotia is proudly announcing that it will be holding
the 25th Anniversary of the Atlantic Cup Tournament on August 1st and
August 2nd in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The Atlantic Cup is an annual
‘festival’ tournament organized by Field Hockey Nova Scotia. The
primary goal of this event is to have fun while playing some great
hockey! We would like to invite your team (Men and Women) to
participate in this event with us. The entries will be restricted to
eight teams and deadline for registration is July 20, 2009…

The Organising Committee of National Capital Cup invites your Team (Men and Women) to participate in the 28th annual Terry Fox International Field Hockey Tournament to be held on June 19, 20 and 21, 2009.  It is a major International Tournament for Clubs, Regional, Provincial (State) and National Teams.

Teams from India, Pakistan, Netherlands, Mexico, Trinidad, and United States have participated in the past years. The entries will be restricted to 9 teams (5 men & 4 women)…

Field Hockey Canada and head coach Louis Mendonca released on Wednesday the names of the eighteen players and five staff who will make up Canada’s National Women’s Team at the International Hockey Federation’s (FIH) 2009 Champions Challenge II to be held in Kazan, Russia from June 21 – 27.

Schedule released for Senior Nationals

The 35-match schedule for the 2009 FHC Senior National Championships was released today just over eight weeks before the start of the event.  Both the men’s and women’s tournaments will take place at Hawkings Field on the campus of the University of Calgary in Alberta.

The ten-team women’s tournament will begin on Wednesday, July 22nd with host Alberta South facing British Columbia’s Under-18 White team…

Canada improves to 11th in world field hockey rankings

The Canadian national men’s field hockey team have climbed two spots to reach 11th in the world according to the International Hockey Federation’s (FIH) most recent world rankings released this past week.  The latest list comes after the conclusion of the Asia Cup which saw India and Japan drop in world-ranking points while Pakistan improved two-spots to sit in sixth place. 

It is the first time that the Canadian men have entered the top twelve since their top 10 ranking in 2000…

Tickets on sale for FIH Men’s Champions Trophy

Tickets are now on sale for the 2009 FIH Champions Trophy in Melbourne, Australia.  The competition takes place 28 November to 6 December and features the top six men’s hockey nations in the world.

The men’s Champions Trophy will follow the Women’s Champions Trophy which will be held in Sydney in July 2009.

Tickets are available through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com.au .

The Canadian Men’s Team will be competing in the FIH Champions Challenge I in mid-December in Argentina while the Canadian women will travel to Russia in June for the FIH Champions Challenge II…

Derek Sandison, of Mississauga, Ontario, has been appointed by the International Hockey Federation as a Techncial Officer for the FIH Men’s Champions Challenge I to be played in Argentina from 6 – 13 December 2009.

The event features the 8 best nations in the world not competing in the 2009 Men’s Champions Trophy.  The recently crowed Pan American Champions from Canada will be among the entrants.

Following last month’s successful campaign to win the Pan American Cup in Santiago and direct qualification to the 2010 World Cup in New Delhi, the Canadian Men’s Team is formally initiating it’s World Cup preparation.

Head Coach Alan Brahmst announced that the first project for the Champions of the Americas is a 4-day National Selection Camp scheduled for June 4 – 7 in Vancouver. Field Hockey Canada’s objective for this camp is to identify the World Cup squad of 28-30 athletes, who will form the core group of players participating in the preparation projects over the next 10 months…
