Despite a strong comeback attempt and two second-half goals by Rockwood, Ontario’s Jessalyn Walkey the Canadian women’s field hockey team was defeated 3-2 by Trinidad & Tobago in the final Pool A game of the Pan American Cup in Bermuda. The loss deals a major blow to Canada’s chances of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup.
Despite a strong performance from goalkeeper Azelia Liu, the Canadian women were defeated by number-two world ranked Argentina 4-0 in their second match of the 2009 Pan American Cup.
The Canadian women’s national field hockey team got off to a strong start at the 2009 Pan American Cup in Hamilton, Bermuda by defeating the host team 10-0 Saturday afternoon. It was their first match of the nine-day tournament to determine the continental qualifier for the 2010 World Cup.

Field Hockey Canada and head coach Louis Mendonca today released the names of those who will represent the Canadian women’s national field hockey team at the 2009 Pan American Cup. The tournament, which runs 7 – 15 February in Hamilton, Bermuda, serves as the continental qualifier for the International Hockey Federation’s (FIH) 2010 World Cup of Hockey.
Saskatchewan finishes in 5th place

Team Saskatchewan clinched 5th place in the 2008 U19 Women’s National Championship Sunday afternoon with a 4-2 consolation round victory over host Manitoba.
Katherine McNeil of Saskatchewan scored in the 47th and 50th minute respectively to seal the win. Teammates Stephanie Gardiner and Megan Scraper also scored.
Julie Lizak and Allison Moore scored for Manitoba. The hosts finish the nine-team event in seventh place.

Ontario Red captures Bronze medal

Team Ontario Red eliminated a potential podium sweep by British Columbia at the U19 Women’s National Championship in Winnipeg with a dominating 7-2 victory over B.C. U16 Sunday afternoon. B.C. Blue will face B.C. White for the gold medal later today.
A hat trick within a six minute span by Ontario’s Jessalyn Walkey was enough to secure the victory for her team.

B.C. Blue captures gold medal in Winnipeg

Team British Columbia Blue defeated Team British Columbia White 2-1 in penalty strokes in the gold medal match at the U19 Women’s National Championship in Winnipeg.
Neelam Kumar opened the scoring in the first half to put the White side up 1-0. Jackie Trautman’s goal midway through the second half sent the game into extra time. However the game needed a penalty stroke competition to ultimately crown B.C. Blue as national champions for 2008…
Medal round begins at Nationals in Calgary

The medal round begins today at the University of Calgary’s Hawkings Field for the 2008 Men’s and Women’s Senior National Field Hockey Championships. British Columbia sits ontop of the standings for both the men’s and women’s events.
Joining the B.C. men in today’s gold medal game will be Team Ontario. The Ontarians were edged by B.C. 3-2 during pool play. Host Alberta will play Manitoba for the bronze.
B.C. will also be playing in the women’s gold medal match against either Ontario or the Under-19 B…
