This week, Canada’s women’s field hockey team made a quick trip from the Lower Mainland of British Columbia up to Whistler mountain for a three-day retreat to kick off their four-year Olympic cycle in style.
The women stayed at the Whistler Athletes Centre, a high performance training and accommodation facility and a legacy of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, where they took part in strength and conditioning sessions, a mental strength session with sport psychologist and former Canadian field hockey player Karen Macneill, a team-improv session, and finished things off with friendly competition in biathlon at Whistler Olympic Park.
