Field Hockey Canada > Women's Indoor Program kicks off Pan Am Cup lead-in with June invitational camp

Field Hockey Canada Women’s Indoor National Team will kick off its 2017 Indoor Pan American Cup lead-in with an invitational camp on June 10-11 in Toronto, Ontario.

The camp is part of the program’s commitment of supporting the indoor program to ensure its teams perform at its very best at the Indoor Pan American Cup.

The program focuses on the development of athletes capable of successfully meeting the demands of international level competition and program requirements.

Elements of the Program

The first phase of the indoor program begins with an invitational squad selection camp which will be held on June 10-11 in Toronto, Ontario (exact location TBC).

The second phase of the indoor program will commence with an open camp August 11-13, 2017 in Toronto, Ontario (exact location TBC).

After the second camp a training squad will be chosen to continue into the training phase of the program, and the final team will be chosen from this squad.

Indoor Camps and Competition Programs 

  • Invitational Camp: June 10-11, 2017 (Toronto, Ontario)
  • Open Camp: August 11-13, 2017 (Toronto, Ontario)
  • Domestic Training: August 19 – October 13, 2017 (Toronto, Ontario)
  • Indoor Pan American Cup: October 14-22, 2017 (Georgetown, Guyana)

Registration Requirements:

Athletes must meet the following requirements and any other set out by the national coach, in order to attend the camp, be selected and train with the national squad. • Be a Canadian Citizen

  • Be a nationally or provincially identified athlete.
  • Be available for domestic training and competitive elements.
  • Be available for the Indoor Pan American Cup (October 2017)
  • Be a member in good standing with FHC and your provincial organization.

Camp Details:

  • Must attend all sessions of the camp, unless excused by head coach.
  • National coaches appointed by the national program.
  • Accommodation, food and travel to and from the camp will be the responsibility of the individual athlete.
  • Athletic trainers/ therapists will be present for all practices and games.
  • Bring red, white and black shirts.

Registration for Camp 1:

  • If you wish to attend this camp you must send your acceptance by writing to Anna Easty at annaeasty@hotmail.com by June 5th, 2017, 5pm EST.
  • A cheque for $ 200 made payable to Field Hockey Canada-Indoor Program will be collected before the first session of the camp.

Registration for Camp 2:

  • If you wish to attend the second camp you must email Anna Easty (annaeasty@hotmail.com) by August 5th, 2017, 5pm EST.
  • A cheque for $ 200 made payable to Field Hockey Canada-Indoor Program will be collected before the first session of the camp.

Squad and Team Selection:

  • A squad will be named on June 23rd, 2017 or earlier.
  • Additional squad members will be named after the second camp.
  • Team and reserves will be selected on October 1, 2017.

Nationally Identified and Non-Ontario Athletes

  • Athletes training in Vancouver for the national outdoor program and would like to participate in the Indoor program will be selected to the squad and or team by the indoor national coach on an individual consideration, provided certain criterias are met.
  • Athletes not residing in Ontario, if selected to the squad or team will need to work with the indoor national coach on a plan which ensures training components are met.
  • These athletes must still email Anna Easty at annaeasty@hotmail.com to indicate their intention to play by June 5th, 2017, if they receive an invitation.
  • For Camp 2: these athletes must still email Anna Easty to indicate their intention to participate.

Self-Funded Program

The program is self-funded and will not be supported financially by Field Hockey Canada. Your assistance in fund raising and attendance at other team activities that raise awareness for the program will be mandatory. All fund raised will be used for the sole purpose of expenses incurred by the program.

Medical Insurance

You must be a registered Provincial and FHC member to be covered by the FHC’s membership’s insurance policy. This is mandatory if you want to attend indoor national training and competition.
