Olympic qualification year kicks off with three-week training tour in China
In the last year, the Canadian Junior Women’s National Team hasn’t competed internationally very often, but that hasn’t stopped the group of young athletes from uniting ahead of the most important competition to date in their international careers.
Eighteen athletes have been named to the Canadian Under-21 Women’s National Team set to compete in the Junior Women’s Pan American Championships – a 2016 Junior World Cup qualifier – from March 29th to April 10th in Trinidad and Tobago.
Sunday was a busy day for Canadian field hockey teams on tour in three different parts of the world, with each of the three squads in action and winning their matches to end the weekend.
Seven athletes from the recently named 2016 Women’s National Team Junior Development Squad (JDS) have been chosen to centralize and train full-time with the senior athletes at the National Training Centre in Vancouver.
