Expression of Interest for Team Managers for WMH Masters World Cup

Field Hockey Canada is seeking National Team Managers for the Canadian Masters Outdoor World Cup in several age group categories ranging from O40 to O65.  These are volunteer positions and the number of manager positions available is contingent upon the number of teams and confirmed age groups for this competition.

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST DUE – April 30, 2026

Field Hockey Canada is the national sport governing body responsible for the development, growth and promotion of field hockey in Canada.  Among its responsibilities, through the FHC Masters Committee, the FHC Outdoor Sub-Committee and Age Group Coordinators, FHC helps select, prepare and promote Canada’s teams with the goal of delivering sustained podium performances in Masters World Cup and Masters Pan American Challenge Cup competitions.

Field Hockey Canada’s Masters Program is self-funded by athletes.  The manager’s cost of airfares, accommodation at events and per diems (amounts may be capped) are covered by player levy payments.  Additionally, managers may receive honoraria for selection camps, practices and other events.

TEAM MANAGER ROLE SUMMARY

The Manager will help to organize the Team as it prepares for the Tournament and then manage the Team at the Tournament.

Job Responsibilities

Working closely with the Team’s AGC and Team coach, and subject to any directives from the FHC Masters Committee or the Masters Outdoor Sub-Committee, the Manager will assist with management of the Team as it prepares for the Tournament, including:

  • Ensuring good communication with all Team athletes, coaches and staff
  • The ordering and delivery of uniforms, training jerseys and team apparel
  • Team equipment, including balls, cones, face masks, pinnies, medical supplies and equipment for all preparation events and at the Tournament
  • Turf bookings for all preparation events
  • Player, coach and staff documentation, including passports and medical records
  • Booking hotel and ground transportation for the Tournament
  • Manage the Team at the Tournament:
  • Working closely with the Coach, Team captain(s) and any medical staff, manage all aspects of the Team’s experience at the Tournament, including accommodation, meals and ground transportation
  • Attend the Managers meeting at the Tournament
  • Ensure that all Tournament registration and other requirements are met
  • Assist the Coach to organize team meetings, practices and any exhibition games
  • Assist with any disciplinary issues or medical emergencies that might arise
  • Act as Team manager on the team bench during all Tournament games
  • Within 30 days of completion of the Tournament submit a written report inclusive of competition review and lessons learned (the “Post-Tournament Report”).

Key Outcomes 

The Team is appropriately prepared and equipped for performance at the Tournament.

Success at the Tournament

Support the growth and development of FHC’s master’s National Programs.

Qualifications | Requirements

  • Memberships in good standing with their local Provincial Sports Organization (PSO) and Field Hockey Canada (FHC).
  • Criminal Record Check – valid within 3 years.
  • Canadian Safe Sport Course (CSSP) – valid within 3 years. CSSP certificate which must be uploaded to F-RED – https://cces.myabsorb.com/#/dashboard, code for FHC is FLD303
