NextGen is Field Hockey Canada’s national talent development program, built for athletes roughly four to eight years from senior national team impact. Through world-class, structured training environments, NextGen identifies and prepares Canada’s future stars — feeding into the Junior and Youth National Teams, and ultimately the Senior Women’s and Men’s National Teams.
By 2036, Field Hockey Canada’s goal is for both the Men’s and Women’s National Teams to be consistently ranked in the world’s top 10. NextGen is the long-term development pathway built to get us there.
NextGen is the step for athletes progressing into the “Training to Compete” and “Training to Win” stages of the LTHD model. NextGen is not intended to replace the training and development provided in your local training environment (Club/School/Province).
