Field Hockey Canada invites the Canadian field hockey community to take part in a meaningful campaign of support throughout November, culminating in Giving Tuesday on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. We encourage all supporters, alumni, families, and fans, to consider contributing to the growth and success of our national team and community programs. Our donation portal outlines the various initiatives in need of support and can be accessed on our donation webpage.
The financial demands of international competition have grown significantly in recent years. Inflation has affected nearly every aspect of team travel and preparation, including airfare, accommodation, insurance, logistics, and local transportation. In 2019, a typical international tour cost approximately $80,000CAD. Today, that same tour often exceeds $120,000 to $140,000.
Currently, Field Hockey Canada generates approximately $500,000 annually through fundraising, sponsorships, and donations. These funds are directed entirely toward supporting our national team programs. However, to meet the growing demands and ensure our athletes have the resources they need to compete at the highest level, annually we must raise $1 million for the Women’s National Team and $1 million for the Men’s National Team. This is an ambitious goal, and we cannot achieve it without your help.
There are several ways to get involved. You can make a direct donation through our website, organize a community fundraiser, or join our sponsorship team to help build long-term partnerships (you can download our sponsorship deck here to learn more about this option). Each contribution, no matter the size, plays a vital role in helping our athletes reach their potential and represent Canada on the world stage.
Giving Tuesday is a global movement that celebrates generosity and encourages people to give back to causes they care about. It’s a perfect opportunity to launch or amplify your fundraising efforts. To learn more about the movement and how you can participate, visit the Giving Tuesday website.
Field Hockey Canada is excited to be sending out four international tours taking place over the next two months. The Men’s National Team just wrapped up the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Malaysia, winning two games and earning a draw against the world number three ranked team, Belgium. The Senior Women’s National Team will embark on a training tour in South Africa in early January, designed to prepare them for the upcoming World Cup qualifier tournaments in the spring.
In addition to our senior teams, both Junior National Teams are currently representing Canada at the Junior World Cups. The Junior Women’s National Team is competing in Santiago, Chile, while the Junior Men’s National Team have traveled to Tamil Nadu, India, and have already completed three matches, moving into the crossover consolation this week. These events mark a significant milestone in the careers of our young athletes and offer them quality international experience.
To support these athletes on their journey, Field Hockey Canada offers the opportunity to “Adopt an Athlete” or “Adopt a Team.” These programs allow donors to contribute directly to the costs associated with travel, training, and competition. By adopting an athlete or team, you become a vital part of their journey and help ensure they have the resources needed to perform at their best.
