Devohn Noronha Teixeira was born into field hockey with his mother and three of his grandparent being hockey players. His grandfathers were international hockey players and his father a sprinter. The family instilled the love of the game and Noronha Teixeira picked up the sport at a young age. After playing for the Junior National Team, he got his first taste of senior international hockey in 2009 during a test series. Since then, he’s been a steady performer on the Men’s National Team.
He played on the World League qualifying team in 2015 and was subsequently selected to play for Team Canada at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. In addition to his National Team experience, he has 49 indoor caps to his name and has represented Canada at three Indoor World Cups. Now, Noronha Teixeira is a full time member of the indoor and outdoor national teams, plays for Toronto Lions FHC, and coaches and gives back in the community.
