Mary Yang, originally from Calgary, AB, began her athletic career in ringette, playing at the AA level for 12 years before discovering field hockey at age 6. She transitioned to the goalie position at age 9 and quickly fell in love with the role. Mary made her competitive debut at the 2019 Nationals as the red shirt for Team Alberta.

Mary’s field hockey journey has been marked by impressive achievements, including being named to Tournament 11 at the 2022 Nationals and earning the U16 Best Goalie award at the 2023 Nationals, where Team Alberta placed 3rd. In 2023, she co-captained the U16 Outdoor Team on their tour to the Netherlands. In 2024, she participated in the U18 Indoor Tour to Philadelphia and helped her club team, Legacy Academy, achieve 2nd place at the Cal Cup.

Looking ahead, Mary is excited for her upcoming tour to France in 2025 and continues to build on her accolades, including being named the Canadian Indoor Classic Best Female Goalkeeper in 2025. With a bright future ahead, Mary remains dedicated to her growth as a field hockey goalkeeper.
