Ryland began playing field hockey at age nine with the KW Dragons and has been a dedicated club member since 2017, competing at both the indoor and outdoor levels. His hard work led him to the U16 Team Ontario squad, where he helped secure a silver medal at Nationals in 2024 and was recognized as a Tournament 11 selection.
A standout high school player, Ryland was named CWOSSA All-Star (2024) and earned Field Hockey Rookie of the Year (2022/2023). He continues to compete at elite levels, representing Canada at the 2025 U18 Wales Tour and KW at the 2025 CAN AM Indoor Series. Looking ahead, Ryland aspires to play field hockey at the university level while continuing to compete at the provincial and national stages.
