TheaCulleyest la joueuse la plus expérimentée de l’équipe féminine de hockey sur gazon sur la scène internationale avec plus de 140 sélections seniors à sa fiche. Elle a su qu’elle voulait être une athlète élite depuis que son grand-père l’a amené à la cérémonie d’ouverture des Jeux du Commonwealth de 1994 à Victoria où elle a été renversée par le défilé des athlètes.

Un de ses moments les plus fiers a été d’entendre l’hymne national avant son premier match aux Jeux du Commonwealth de 2010. Elle a ensuite aidé le Canada à remporter une médaille de bronze aux Jeux panaméricains de 2015 à Toronto, devenant la première équipe canadienne à monter sur le podium à ces Jeux depuis 1999.

Culleya joué pour les Vikes de l’Université de Victoria de 2003 à 2007 et a été nommée au sein de l’équipe d’étoiles du Championnat de SIC en 2004 et en 2006 ainsi qu’au sein de l’équipe d’étoiles nationales étudiante en 2004-2005 et en 2006-2007.

Culleyest représentante des athlètes au sein du Conseil d’administration de Hockey sur gazon Canada et membre du Conseil d’administration d’AthlètesCAN, un groupe de défense des athlètes.

Thea Culley is the most internationally experienced member of the women’s field hockey team with more than 140 senior caps to her credit. She has known that she wanted to be an elite athlete since her grandfather took her to the Opening Ceremony of the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, where she was mesmerized by the Parade of Athletes.

One of her proudest moments was then hearing O Canada played before her first match at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. She then helped Canada earn a bronze medal at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto, becoming the first Canadian women’s team since 1999 to win a medal at the event.

Culley played for the University of Victoria Vikes from 2003 to 2007 and was named a CIS Tournament All-Star in 2004 and 2006 as well as an Academic All-Canadian in 2004-05 and 2006-07.

Culley is an athlete’s rep on of the Field Hockey Canada Board of Directors and a board member of the athletes’ advocacy group AthletesCAN.
