Field Hockey Canada Nationals U15 Division – Day 5 Recap

Its playoff time in Calgary, as the gold medal games get closer and closer. Four semi-final games are featured today. On the Men’s side, first place BC took on fourth seeded Alberta, in which BC was able to play to their strengths and take advantage of the holes on the Alberta team. They kept the offense pouring throughout the game, and finished with a 7-0 win, giving them a spot in the gold medal game.

The next game was a close showdown between second and third seeded teams, Quebec and Ontario. The game was close throughout, with Quebec getting most of the offensive chances. Ontario goalie Udaibir Gill had an amazing performance, and kept the game at 1-0 for Quebec. Although Ontario put up an amazing fight, they were outlasted by Quebec 2-0.

The women’s division also played their semi-final matches today, Ontario West and Ontario Central took on both the BC Rams and BC Lions respectively, which showed to be tough contests in both games. Ontario West played their hardest against the BC Rams, but the Rams were able to cash in on a single opportunity, to win the game 1-0. Then, Ontario Central stood strong against the BC Lions, and after a long wind and dust delay, won the game 1-0 to punch their ticket to the gold medal match.

Then, the BC Stags played their final game against Alberta for fifth place, and took home a comfortable 7-0 win, while Ontario East took out PEI 3-0 to win seventh place in the tournament.

Tomorrow: Tune in for all the final games of the tournament. The Alberta boys will take on Ontario for a chance at the bronze medal, while BC will go against Quebec for a shot at the gold. On the women’s side, the BC lions will play against Ontario West for the Bronze, and the BC Rams go up against Ontario Central for the gold medal.
