Canadian Women & Sport leads the way in gender equity programs, education, and initiatives.
“When it comes to sport, women and girls have got it all, and then some. Unfortunately, they also have an extra set of challenges that men and boys do not. These challenges continue to prevent women and girls from staying in sport. Canadian Women & Sport is committed to supporting women and girls and helping everyone involved in sport understand those challenges so we can tackle them together.”
To help keep more girls and women in sport, things need to change. And we all have a role to play. To view some ideas for what you can do to better understand how women and girls experience sport and how to support them visit the Canadian Women & Sport campaign website
Field Hockey Canada is proud to have partnered with Canadian Women & Sport to promote a field hockey issue and call to action for stakeholders to actively promote the women’s game and women’s competition as a way to keep girls in the sport.
We recognize that despite high numbers of female-identifying athletes playing youth and recreational field hockey, the percentage of these athletes that make the jump into the high-performance context is few. Through the #FHCSheCan campaign we hope to inspire girls to stay in the game by bringing exposure and awareness of the women’s game and show young female athletes in Canada that there are many opportunities to play field hockey at elite levels.
