With summer just around the corner and the temperatures rising, things are about to heat up in Canadian field hockey.
June, July, and August are busy months with both Senior National Teams in action, and the 2017 Under 15, 18, and 23 National Championships being contested.
Here is the Canadian field hockey competition schedule through August:
June 4-6 – Men’s National Team – Exhibition matches vs France – Lille, France
As a primer for the upcoming World League Semi-Final, Canada’s men’s field hockey team is headed to France for a trio of exhibition matches against the French.
June 15-25 – Men’s National Team – FIH Hockey World League Semi-Final – London, England
Canada’s men join nine other nations in London, all of which will be looking to land a Top 5 spot in the competition and a ticket to the 2018 Men’s Hockey World Cup next year in India.
In addition to a World Cup Spot, Canada’s men will be looking to advance to the Hockey World League Final, which will be played in Bhubaneswar, India this year from December 1-10.
July 11, 13, 19 – Women’s National Team – Super Series – Vancouver, British Columbia
The Canadian women’s field hockey team will be lining up in a three-game inter-squad series in July in preparation for the 2017 Pan American Cup. The series will feature an enhanced roster of athletes, including current senior team members, select juniors, and hand-picked Women’s National Team alumni.

July 18-25 – 2017 FHC National Championship – Surrey, British Columbia
Field Hockey B.C. hosts this year’s National Championships at Surrey’s Tamanawis Field, a premier hockey facility in British Columbia’s Lower Mainland.
An updated format sees three age categories to be played in a festival-type week of hockey. Stay tuned to the links below for tournament, team, and game information and results:
August 4-13 – Men’s and Women’s National Teams – 2017 Pan American Cup – Lancaster, Pennsylvania
2018 World Cup Qualification is on the line in Lancaster, with the Champions of both this year’s Men’s and Women’s Pan American Cups earning a spot at next year’s Men’s and Women’s World Cups in India and England, respectively.
October 14-22, 2017 – Men’s and Women’s Indoor National Teams – 2017 Indoor Pan American Cup – Georgetown, Guyana
While it’s not part of the summer competition schedule, there is also an indoor competition to look out for later this year, which also has implications on World Cup Qualification.
