Women’s National Team Carded Members For 2011

FHC and Sport Canada are pleased to announce the Women’s National Team Athletes chosen for the 2011 Sport Canada AAP. For athletes to receive the Athlete Assistance Program they must, meet the Sport Canada criteria, meet all performance standards provided, and display a strong commitment to the Women’s National program. Coach Louis Mendonca recently nominated 28 athletes for the AAP and Sport Canada has just confirmed funding for all 28 athletes. This upcoming year, 8 senior cards, 1 C1 card, 7 full development cards and 12 partial developmental cards will be provided to the athletes. The list of athletes receiving funding includes veterans Katie Baker, Stephanie Jameson, and Azelia Liu in addition to 6 new players who will receive AAP support for the first time. In addition, there are 6 eligible athletes who will represent Canada at the Junior World Cup.
The Athlete Assistant Program provides a tremendous benefit to all National Team Athletes. The AAP assists athletes participate in major international sporting events, enabling athletes to combine their sport and academic or working careers while training intensively in pursuit of world-class performances. The Women’s National Team appreciates the generous support and would like to thank Sport Canada.
