Day one at the 2014 Under-16 National Championships is in the books and both the competition and the opening ceremony were as uccess, despite a rainy day in West Vancouver, BC.
The games were officially kicked off by Field Hockey Canada President Ian Bagott, and Field Hockey BC President, Sue Demuynck as well with all teams taking part in the openy ceremony, walking out to the field shoulder-to-shoolder, carrying their respective flags, wearing their respecitve colours and singing the Canadian national anthem.
Here is how the on-field action turned out:
Boys: BC Yellow 4 – Alberta 1
Boys: Ontario 4 – BC White 1
Girls: BC Blue 8 – Alberta Blue 0
Girls: BC White 1 – BC Yellow 1
Girls – Ontario 17 – Alberta White 0
Day two, Thursday, will also feature a full day of competition, with six games beginning at 9:00am:
9:00am – Girls: BC Blue – BC Yellow
10:45am – Girls: BC White – Alberta White
12:30pm – Boys: BC White – Alberta
2:15pm – Boys: BC Yellow – Ontario
4:00pm – Girls: Ontario – Alberta Blue
5:45pm – Girls: BC Yellow – Alberta White
