Day four of the U16 Field Hockey Canada Nationals is now in the books. Filled with heated action throughout the day, friends and family were treated to some great boys and girls action this Friday in Brampton, Ontario.
Friday morning was kicked with U16 Boys action, featuring BC White taking on Ontario GTA. Ontario GTA was able to pull through the 60 minutes winning by a score of 1-0. An early goal in the 10th minute by Harbir Kamboj was the only goal needed to lead his team to victory.
More U16 Boys action followed in an exciting match between Alberta and Ontario East. After full time it was Alberta that came out as the winner defeating their opponents by a score of 4-2. Alberta’s Gurkirat Sran scored two goals in the victory scoring in the 26th and 37th minute of the match.
BC White and Alberta got things rolling on the U16 Girls side the following match. After the end of regulation time, neither side could find the score sheet resulting in the game to go to a shootout. After two rounds of shooters, it was BC White who claimed the victory, winning 4-3 in the shootout.
The following match continued U16 Girls action and had BC Blue playing against Ontario White. The match came down to the wire with BC Blue winning by a score of 1-0. BC Blue’s Alissa Wong was able to break the games deadlock in the 58th minute securing her team a birth in tomorrow’s Gold Medal game.
Next up was U16 Boys Quebec facing off against BC Blue. BC Blue was able to cruise to shutout victory, 4-0 was the final score. A four goal 1st Half from BC Blue proved to be the difference with goals coming from; Arjun Hothi, Jason Dhaliwal, Naman Sharma, and Harpreety Benipal.
In the final U16 Boys match of the day, Ontario East took on BC White. The close game did not have a winner as the teams finished it out in a 1-1 draw. The mere two goals in the match came from Josh Kuempel of Ontario East and Conor Henry of BC White.
The U16 Girls closed out the night in match between Ontario Red and BC White. Ontario Red was able to win big by a score of 7-1. Jaslan Stirling of Ontario Red has been a player to take note as she adds another three goals to her name.
