Field Hockey Canada’s Masters Hockey program encourages and enables field hockey players age thirty-five and up to continue their participation in field hockey at the highest level.
In doing so, FHC’s Canada Masters Hockey supports Field Hockey Canada’s strategic objective of developing and strengthening field hockey across the country and fostering a robust Canadian hockey family. Engaging Master level athletes, FHC’s Canada Masters Hockey program will provide field hockey players of all ages the opportunity to continue participation in the sport at an international level.
Field Hockey Canada’s Masters Hockey program is governed in accordance with Field Hockey Canada’s policies and procedures and led by a committee and sub-committee structure. Visit our Masters Governance page here. if you have any enquiries about Masters Hockey please contact the committee at: masterscommittee@fieldhockey.ca.
The masters program is overseen by Field Hockey Canada masters committee (governance) and part time staff (operations). Viability of teams and decision making sits with this group. Decisions will be made on number of teams and age groups based on the criteria outlined in policy. One key element to decision making is the number of registered participants within our membership database. Please ensure you are a paid member in good standing with your home province and Field Hockey Canada. Click below to express interest and register as a masters hockey member. All policies are linked at the bottom of this page.
Once team entries are decided, program selection will be activated with opportunities provided on an east and west basis in order to drive equity of access. Please note that the Field Hockey Canada Masters program is a user pay program. There is no government funding at this time for the masters program. All programs are fully costed. For general decision making, note that participation in a program and competition is likely to cost >$6000. As an identified masters athlete you will have the benefit of support in using the fundraising platform to support program costs and can participate in adopt and athlete or adopt a team campaigns. Each team will also have access to materials in support of garnering sponsors into the program. The budgets and plans for each program are managed by Field Hockey Canada staff in conjunction with the committee.
