Teams from British Columbia have won their respective pools in the women’s and men’s divisions at the 2010 FHC National Championships in Victoria. Playoffs begin Saturday morning at the University of Victoria.
Heading into day four of the event Women’s Pool A winner BC Mainland will take on the second place team from Pool B, Team Ontario, in the semi finals. Pool B winner BC Island will battle BC U18 Blue in the other semi final.
In the 5-7 classification round Alberta will face both Prince Edward Island (4th Pool B) and BC U18 White (3rd Pool B). The final standings will be decided by the total points between the three teams’ games. BC U18 White edged PEI 3-2 during pool play.
In the men’s tournament British Columbia earned a bye into Sunday’s gold medal game after a 2-2 draw with Ontario on Friday. BC wins the men’s pool on goal differential. Ontario now plays the United States on Saturday for the right to meet BC in the final.
British Columbia will be crowned as National Champion should Team USA defeat Ontario on Saturday.
Also on Saturday Alberta will face BC U18 in the men’s 4-5 classification match.
The women’s bronze medal match is scheduled for 9:00am (all times Pacific) on Sunday followed by the men’s gold medal match at 11:00am. The women’s gold medal match will begin at 1:00pm.
