Argentina and Canada played the last match on day four of the Men’s Indoor Pan American Championship.
Canada came out dominating possession and scored two goals by Sean BARRETTO and Jonathan ROBERTS within the first ten minutes of the match. Down two goals, Argentina looked to generate attack but had shots blocked by the Canadian defense. Midway through the first half, Argentina had a good opportunity to score off a penalty corner, but was unable to capitalize. Canada continued to assert their dominance and after a series of penalty corners; and Adam ALI scored their third goal of the match. Thus, Canada led 3-0 at halftime.
In the second half, Argentina had a few penalty corners, but could not score. Canada scored again in the 28th minute to go ahead 4-0 over Argentina. With one minute remaining in the match, Adriano BUSATTO scored for Argentina off a penalty corner; making the final score 4-1 in favour of Canada.
Canada’s victory over Argentina earned them the top spot in Pool A.
The Canucks will finish pool play against host Venezuela on Friday afternoon.
