Canadian men finish test series with perfect record

August 7, 2010

VANCOUVER – The Canadian men’s national field hockey team concluded their five-match test series against Chile on Friday evening in Vancouver.  Canada earned a 2-1 victory to finish the series with a perfect 5-0 record.

Vancouver native Scott TUPPER netted the game winning goal on a penalty corner play with less than six minutes remaining in the match.

Canada opened the game’s scoring in the 43rd minute after a scoreless first half when Matt GUEST converted on a field play past Chilean goalkeeper Adrian HENRIQUEZ.

Chile’s tying goal came seven minutes later from Kapsch SEBASTIAN.

Field Hockey Canada will now begin the final preparations for both the men’s and women’s teams leading up to this October’s Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, India.

We would like to thank the many volunteers and fans who came out to support the Series as well as the Chilean teams for taking part.
