Carding camp begins for women’s national squad

VANCOUVER – The camp to determine the 2011 carding selections for the women’s national team begins today in Vancouver.  Successful athletes will receive financial assistance under Sport Canada’s Athlete Assistance Program during the January 1 – December 31, 2011 carding cycle.

The camp will run until Sunday, November 14th and include practices, fitness testing, meetings, and inter-quad matches.

The 2011 carding cycle features both the Pan American Games and Champions Challenge II as the major events.

The invite-only camp’s attendees include established veterans of the national team and newly identified athletes hoping to make it to the next level.

“I look forward to seeing the new players compete for a position on the squad and for carding,” said head coach Louis Mendonca.  “The inter-squad matches should be very competitive.”
