Following last month’s successful campaign to win the Indoor Pan American World Cup Qualifier in Venezuela and direct qualification to the 2012 Indoor World Cup in Poland, the Canadian Men’s Team is formally initiating it’s World Cup preparation.

Head Coach Ehsan Ali announced that the first project for the Champions of the Americas is a 2-day National Selection Camp scheduled for October 16 & 17th in Toronto. Field Hockey Canada’s objective for this camp is to identify an initial squad of players who will train toward the ultimate goal of being selected to the World Cup team. Athletes who will be competing in the Commonwealth Games in October will be exempt from this initial identification camp.

"We have a comprehensive program planned with some centralization projects in Toronto and an important pre-World Cup tour to Russia in December," suggested Coach Ali, further adding that "for Canada, who has been very competitive in our 2 other Indoor World Cup campaigns, it will now be important to began building a team that can push for some success by the time the World Cup kicks off in February."

As an integral part of Canada’s overall high performance program, the Canadian National Indoor Program is fully supported by Field Hockey Canada, its board and National Head Coach, Robin D’Abreo.  The team is bound by the policy and the direction of the FHC Board and the National coach.
