Jenny John to be Inducted to the BC Sports Hall of Fame

Following the official announcement on January 7th, 2010; it is our pleasure to congratulate Jenny on this prestigious and well deserved award. The official induction ceremonies of the 9 individuals and 1 team will take place on September 16th, 2010 at the Vancouver Convention Centre Expansion at the 42nd Annual Banquet of Champions. Jenny’s induction is recognition for her considerable contribution as a ‘builder’ within our sport and has been recognised in this official category.

Jenny John was considered to be the “face” of field hockey in British Columbia, during her 21 year career as Provincial Coordinator for the BC Women’s Field Hockey Federation (BCWFHF).  Jenny made an incredible contribution to the sport of field hockey in the province.  She conducted hundreds of coaching and umpiring clinics, player camps, parent information workshops, tournament – hosting information sessions.  Jenny also mentored many individuals as Tournament Officials and Judges. She is largely responsible for the successful evolution of the BC High School program and the corresponding ‘AA’ and ‘AAA’ Provincial Championships. The growth of field hockey in the Okanagan and Kootenays was a result direct Jenny’s time and efforts. Her passion was working with young people, especially Mini Field Hockey and Junior Development. Jenny put her heart and soul into her job, and her legacy continues today.
