Day 7:

This morning was the earliest yet as our jog and stretch was scheduled for 6:10am.  When we stepped outside, we were alarmed to see that it was still dark out, but continued on our routine warm up. After this we had some breakfast then prepared for our final game against the Americans.

Upon arrival at the field we warmed up then were ready to play! However, this game was not like the others; the Americans were pressuring constantly and it was evident that this was going to be a ver ycompetitive game.  The USA scored first on a short corner just under 11 minutes into the game, making for their first lead in the series thus far. We tried to fight back through this adversity, but the Americans were relentless.  Although we had some good offensive attacks and short corner opportunities, the half ended with a 1-0 lead for the Americans.

Team USA started the second half just as they did the first and scored a field goal in the 36thminute.  We continued to stay in the game and in the 45th minute Priya Randhawa scored a one-on-one goal after receiving a beautiful pass from Anna Kozniuk.  This goal gave us momentum as in the 47thminute Natalie Sourisseau scored a rocket off a short corner.  However, the Americans would not givein as they took the lead in the 51st minute off a short corner.  The game would go back and forth until the last minute, but we were unable to find the equalizer; the final score was 3-2 in favour of the Americans.

Although this game was not the ending we wanted, overall we had a successful series and won 3 games to 1.  After a brief talk with the coaches and a cool down we headed back to the hotel for some ice baths, pool time and showers before our shopping trip!

Excitedly, we packed up into the vans for our highly anticipated shopping adventure.  We were given three hours to roam the mall; favourite stores included H&M and Forever 21. After this, we were all very tired and some of us headed back to the hotel to relax and eat while others enjoyed a nice dinner with their family.

Tomorrow we’ll be packing up our bags and saying goodbye to San Diego.  Overall, it has been an amazing tour for all of us and we had a lot of fun playing with different people and definitely learned a lot from our coaches.  We look forward to having another experience like this soon!
