November 13, 2010
Most of us are coming off an intense 5 day Senior National Carding Camp. Our first day on the 2010 California Tour was also the last day of the camp. Those of us at the camp left Wright Field at UBC and headed straight to Vancouver International Airport where we had to meet at 4:00 pm sharp. We got a quick meal and checked through customs for our flight to Los Angeles which departed around 6:40 pm.
The flight was nice, short and uneventful. We landed in California about three hours later. Off the plane and straight to the baggage claim where we found Mike Varsamis. I must say our trip was a dream compared to Mike’s, he had been waiting at the airport for the last six hours for us to arrive.
Once all the team arrived from the different flights, then Big Al (our team manager) got us out of the airport to the car rented company. This all took some time, as it seemed that the car rental company was a little confused, but in the end we were off in three vans. It took a 1 hour drive from the airport to our hotel. Finally, into our hotel rooms just before 1:00 am – what a long tiring day – time to take a nap.
Next morning will come soon enough with 6:00 am wake-up, breakfast followed by a two hour practice starting at 8:00 am, and that’s what Big Al thinks is a sleep in.
