For the second straight year teams from British Columbia and Ontario will face each other in the gold medal matches of the men’s and women’s national championship. The games will go at 11:00am and 1:00pm PST respectively on Sunday.
Saturday matches saw Team Ontario men defeat the United States 3-3 (5-3 on penalty strokes) in a thriller of a semi-final. British Columbia advanced to Sunday’s final after finishing first in the round robin ending Friday.
Host team BC Island defeated BC U18 Blue 5-1 to book their place in the women’s gold medal match. In the other women’s semi-final Ontario beat BC Mainland 3-1.
In other matches on Saturday the 5-7 classification was settled on the women’s side after Prince Edward Island defeated Alberta 1-0 followed by BC U18 White being defeated by Alberta 2-1. As a result of ‘Goals For’ BC U18 White finished fifth, PEI finished sixth, and Alberta seventh.
In the men’s 4-5 classification match Alberta edged BC U18 3-2. As the third best finishing Canadian team the Albertans also capture the bronze medal.
