After their first two matches at the FIH Champions Challenge I in Argentina, Canada is looking for their first victory. The Senior Men dropped their first match to top-ranked Korea in a 0 – 2 loss on Saturday. Sunday’s tie against Poland was a frustrating result for Canada after securing a 3 – 1 lead in the second half. A quick double by Poland tied the score within 3 minutes. Despite a fierce final ten minutes, the match ended with an even 3 – 3 score. On Tuesday, Canada’s men will take on Malaysia, who are currently undefeated and sitting atop Pool A.
“We feel confident going into Tuesday’s match,” says Head Coach Anthony Farry. “We’ve been playing quite well and improving each game. The guys are looking forward to getting out there and playing. Malaysia is a fantastic team, so it’s going to be a very tough match – but that’s exactly what we’re after. It’s going to be a very fast match with both sides looking to play similar styles. I would imagine the crowd will be in for a real treat!”
